Fancy a short working holiday in Pendle?

In-Situ invites applications from artist duos or friends to spend time in Pendle this summer, working together to support the development of the Art Library in The Garage project space.

The opportunity includes free self-catering accommodation for up to 4 nights at The Garage and access to the project space, office, kitchen and laundry facilities as well as an artist fee.

You can choose how you spend your time working on the library, but over the duration of your stay we expect a total of 30 hours (2 days each) to be spent working on the Library. You can fit this into your time away, whilst also exploring the area, maybe walking up Pendle Hill, and visiting local historic spots like Clarion House, food destinations and current artist projects in the area.

Brierfield train station is a couple of minutes walk away and links to Burnley where you can get trains to Manchester and Leeds. Buses run from Nelson bus station into the surrounding towns and countryside. We can also arrange for cycles so you can explore the Leeds/Liverpool Canal.

The task:
  • To catalogue the contents of the art library by inputting ISBNs using ‘Library Cat’ cloud based catalogue service and tagging entries (iPads provided)
  • To stick ex libris labels into all the books
  • To arrange contents on shelves with new labelled shelf dividers
  • To create selected edits of books with notes for future readers
